Monthly Media: December 2025 Wrap-up

Ummm, so remember last update? Well, haha, I haven't really engaged with the media I was supposed to. Some long-running shows where being put down on my streaming service of choice so I chose to watch those as I did other things. Anyway, let's begin.

Videogames

• Disco Elysium: The Final Cut | Third Replay
• Till the moment of writing, I'm locked in the Communist Political Quest, smelling out for comrades (I kid you not).
• I love the detail of the story that acknowledges the political differences between socialists and communists. That's why the Hardie boys aren't one of the people the protagonist must speak to. Because the ideals of social democrats are different from communism. I know the game was made by folks who identity as communist so they knew their stuff but I still think it was cool of them to add such a distinction in-game for those that may not know.
• As for other qualities in this playthrough, I managed to go through all of Klassje's dialogue and accidentally chose not to arrest her. No regrets tho.
• Oh and something completely knew in this playthrough compared to my previous ones (which I have barely spoken about) is the number of skills that come up in the dialogue. Somehow, I managed to level up several skills from all four categories so I'm getting vastly different opinions on the events of the game. If I didn't have a grip of what I should and want to do in the game I would be very confused (⊙_⊙) . The skills that are talking to my character the most are Encyclopedia/Drama/Logic/Rhethoric/Conceptualization for Intellect, Volition/Empathy/Esprit the Corps/Suggestion for Psyche, Electrochemistry for Physique, and Perception/Composure for Motorics. Some of them come up more often depending on which clothing my character is wearing.
• I made an effort to up my Electrochemistry to pass the check in the bathroom mirror to remove The Expression. I passed the check the night before signe up for Communism haha. Feels like fate. It was a 42% check!
• In the third day, I had spent most of it taking care of he dialogue with the Hardie Boys and Klassje. Now that I'm starting the fourth day, I'm gonna head beyond the water lock towards the fishing village. While looking for more comarades of course.
• Oh and one last thing, in my previous runs, I didn't make use of the items to temporarily increase my stats, not even during my Physique-leaning run where Electrochemistry begged me to every other minute. In this run, I wanted to not only collect them but also use them. Funny how that affects the personality and development of my character. Not gonna lie, I never thought I would have the option in an RPG for smoking, drinking alcohol, and doing drugs. It's one of those things I never thought of which makes the game more interesting. (This is not an endorsement for doing drugs, irresponsible consumption of alcohol, or smoking).
• LISA: The Painful (Deluxe Edition) | First Time
• As of writing this, I haven't even touched the game.

Series

Live Action

• Star Trek: Voyager Season 2 | First Time
• Don't know why I haven't mentioned I'm a massive Trekkie. Still making my way through all the series, Voyager at the moment.
• I'm loving it so far. I love love love storied focused on the female experience. I don't know how to explain it but there's something in the way they are written here that just tells me this was written by a woman who cares about women's vaguely gestures. They stand up for their ideals, they are the main characters of their episodes, they are assertive and self-assured. And what I love the most, they support each other! Healthy female friendship!
• I also love the focus on womens' desires and perspectives. And they are also allowed to display their femininity! I'm watching the Star Trek universe chronologically from the time of creation so it's nice to see these big picture changes. I acknowledge it's not perfect and still leaves out many other groups and perspectives, some of which are acknowledged in future installments.
• I don't participate in the fandom other than watching review videos from SF Debris and what my brother tells me about the fandom. I need to share that he tells me about fandom shipping unprompted and it brings me joy everytime. No I did not ask about Tom x Harry but thank you for telling me bro o˘◡˘o).
• Ngl my favorite lesbian ship is becoming Janeway x Seven. Can't fully sign up for it until Seven is able to stand up on her own because of their current unbalanced power dynamic at the moment (start of season 3) but I'm loving their interactions. They hold each other in such esteem and affection ugh it's so good. Their current relationship made me realize that I enjoy the "they are my social rehabiliation project" kind of dynamic. Of course, I understand it should not a one-person endeavor but a whole community's, and it is in this series' case. Literally a Found Family trope dynamic amongst the whole crew.

Cartoons

• The Looney Toons Show | First time
• I started watching this... maybe because it was leaving? I'm a big fan of old cartoons so I watched this to have something on TV while doing other stuff. This series is ten years old and I never really cared for it till now. I think I saw an episode on TV and wanted to watch more.
• At the time of writing, the series has been removed from my streaming service and it bums me out. It's really funny and some episodes have some good ideas. The characters are relatable and I like what they did with them.
• I did however, have a little beef with Lola's characterization in season 1 because she seemed like a character victim of misogynistic writing but in season 2 she seemed to be changing. I might never know how she continues to develop throughout the series but I would really love to know. Wait this is why people upload their hyper specific analysis into video hosting services like YouTube. Might look for a video about her at some point.
• And once again, my brother felt the need to tell me there are videos out there with compilations of Bugs and Daffy's "arguing like an old married couple" his words and probably those from the commenters of these videos. I can see the ship ngl.
• BoJack Horseman Season 2 and Season 3 | First time
  • Do I tell you that I binged these in a day. Honestly, I don't recommend it (the binging; the series I highly recommend if you're okay with the subject matter). It's happened twice and both times it made me feel kind of... suicidal tbh. Subject matter is mature and the main character is a mess of a human being. It also didn't help that I was writing a fic about a similarly screwed up person so I've been trying to get into that mindset.
  • Kinda love the show tho. I probably can't help binging because the ending hits hard like EVA did back in the day.
  • As of writing this, I have two episodes to go for Season 3. I had to keep watching because of Todd. Is he... is he ace rep? I think I saw this show had ace rep but I can't remember who it was. Fuck, if I'm right I'm gonna fucking cry if there's like a coming out scene.

Anime

• Katekyo Hitman Reborn Season 1 | Rewatch
• We just finished Season 1 (peak) and started season 2. It's going really slow but I'm SO hyped everytime I heart that opening (spoilers maybe?). I LOVE IT IT'S SO HYPE! I don't like shounen as much nowadays but I enjoy watching this one. Probably the nostalgia and perhaps that it was written by not-a-guy? Dunno.
• By the way, the official anime YouTube channel uploaded a new PV. New stuff from old shows now pisses me off. Not gonna pay attention to whatever they want my attention for more than this. The video is really spoilery btw.

So that's been it for this month! Honesty, I have been busy with Ina11Recs, holidays, social media, and just plain existing. I'm not being too harsh on myself on this. Ahhh but fucking streaming service is gonna remove Voyager on the 8th, fuck!
